Today I get to review an eBook that anyone who’s like me (you love good food) won’t want to miss. The eBook is actually a series of eBooks written by Ron Douglas and Chef Tom. The main books in this series are titled America’s Secret Recipes, and they include recipes from some of the top restaurants in North America today.

Since reviewing this one meant eating – this was probably the best eBook I’ve ever had the chance to review for this site (remember I said I love good food).  At any rate, on a full stomach, I am recommending this eBook series to anyone, and I’m about to tell you why.

America’s Secret Recipes Reviewed

Let’s face it; most of us love to eat out. Of course the problem with that is that it’s eventually get’s expensive, and it requires you to leave the house for dinner every time you want that restaurant-style food. With America’s Secret Recipes, by Ron Douglas and Chef Tom, you can get that restaurant taste in your own kitchen!

Really, these eBooks include more recipes, from more well-known restaurants, than any other secret recipes book I have ever read.  Let’s talk about the eBook package itself.

For $29, the America’s Secret Recipes Package Includes the following cookbooks:

  • America’s Secret Recipes 1
  • America’s Secret Recipes 2
  • Secret Sauces Exposed
  • Good Ole Comfort Foods
  • The Grill Master’s Guide To Grilling
  • Special Occasion Cookbook
  • Diabetic Delights
  • Kid Approved Cookbook

With the amount of content alone, this package is well worth it’s price, but it’s the two main eBooks that you won’t want to miss.

Maybe you’re a KFC fan and you love that original recipe chicken.  If so, check out recipe 77 in America’s Secret Recipes 1. You won’t be disappointed! Maybe that delectiable steak is more your thing? Then don’t miss Outback Steakhouse Steak Marinade on page 113. Whatever your tastes, the 157 recipes in book one will likely suit!

If all you ever got with this eBook package was Ron Douglas’s first book, you’d eat well for a very long time. With the addition of America’s Secret Recipes 2 though, you’ll be eating well forever. In this particular eBook I do suggest that seafood lovers check out pages 121 – 124. There are some Red Lobster recipes you won’t want to miss!

Quite honestly, with the sheer number of recipes included in these eBooks I probably can’t review them all and do Ron Douglas’s books any justice. I am recommending this eBook package to everyone though (at least those who like to eat), and I do suggest you take the time to browse the complete list of recipes on at Recipe Secrets site.

At just $29 my feeling is that this eBook package is a steal. Even if it didn’t include all of the bonus content, I would still say that the 2 main books were well worth that price. With the addition of the 6 additional eBooks that come with the package I don’t think that any other recipe book can come close to this one in value – period. It’s like I said, if you enjoy good food, you will want these eBooks!

Today I’m reviewing a Child Custody ebook which is a little outside of the types of books we would normally review on our site. However, I felt that the Child Custody Center package, written by Dr. Gail Elliot and Dr. Barry Bricklin provided enough value to their customers that it was worth reviewing and sharing my thoughts on this package.

First of all if you’re in the situation where you’re searching for this type of information, then you likely already know how confusing it can. When it comes to custody laws, child support laws, etc, not only do they tend to be huge topics, they also tend to be different between different states and different provinces. In other words it’s difficult to find all of the information you need.

For many, the idea of paying a $1500 retainer fee and then forking out a few thousand each month in lawyer’s fees simply isn’t possible. With the Child Custody eBook package from the Child Custody Center site, parents are offered an alternative, and since this particular series of guides was written by respected experts in the field, it’s an alternative that actually works.

Child Custody Center by Gail Elliot and Barry Bricklin

One of the first things you’ll notice when you begin looking up Child Custody eBooks is that there are a range of them available, and for the most part many of them are junk. This isn’t the case with Child Custody Center by Gail Elliot and Barry Bricklin, and in fact you’ll be pleasantly surprised with both the quality and quantity of content that comes with this eBook package.

Child Custody Center Includes (I’m reviewing their Gold Package):

  1. 1. Custody Strategies for Men/Women (Depending On Which Package You Buy) by Dr. Barry Bricklin and Dr. Gail Elliot
  2. Child Support Information – All 50 states. Everything you need to know.
  3. 49 item Child Custody Checklist –The Important things to help you in your custody case.
  4. Additional Guidance by Top Experts from around the USA
  5. State-specific Child Custody Laws Supplement
  6. Information on what judges look at when they make family court decisions.
  7. Free Updates for 6 months.
  8. Top fifty questions that, together, cover EVERY child custody topic.
  9. Child Custody and Visitation-an in-depth discussion by experts.
  10. Additional information from Dr. Bricklin and Dr. Elliot
  11. Dozens of Supplement eBooks That Can Take Your Knowledge Further

Really the amount of content included is too large to list in one review. I do suggest you take the time to visit their site to read about everything that is included with this particular child custody learning package.

However, all of the content that comes with the package is well written, and it makes a complex topic simple to understand. With the amount of content that’s included, I imagine it would be difficult to find a topic that isn’t covered with this package. And, since it’s written by experts in the field, besides being clear and concise all of the information given is the same type of info that you would pay a lawyer $100 – $300 an hour to provide.

After reviewing this eBook package I am recommending it to anyone who needs this information. With the amount of content included it’s well worth the cost, and using an eBook package like this will save you thousands on lawyer’s fees.

Magniwork Scam, Magniwork Review, Don’t Waste Your Money!

Posted by Trevas On February - 17 - 2010

It isn’t very often that I post negative reviews to eBookGuru.org, however today I am sharing my Magniwork review, and hopefully by posting this I can save a few people $50. The problem isn’t that Magniwork isn’t well written, it actually is, the problem is that the idea itself is a scam.

As some of you may already know I am quite passionate about the topic of alternative energy, and specifically I see DIY alternative energy as an answer to some of our energy needs. Late last year I even used my marketing experience to help Peter and Jennifer Lowe launch their eBook/video series Green Power Easy. I also openly promote Earth 4 Energy as an excellent guide to alternative power.  From that passion I own just about every DIY Solar and Wind Power guide that comes out.

Today I’m reviewing one that has nothing to do with Green Power, even though they claim to have the answer to all of your energy needs. Okay, so let’s talk about Magniwork.

The Maginwork guide teaches the idea of building a magnet generator to power your home. A magnet generator is a device that produces power by spinning a group of magnets over top of magnet wires. Of course, since this is the same concept used in any generator, this does work to produce power. The problem is that a magnet generator won’t work to produce power for a home.

It may be suitable as a fun hobby project, but in no way is it  the “Long Kept Secret For Generating Free Electricity” as the Magniwork sales page states. No there isn’t any big government cover up of this long-kept secret, and (I’m sorry conspiracy theorists) there is no big conspiracy to keep this big “free energy” secret from the public…

Magniwork Scam

Let’s discuss this idea for a moment. I want to talk about the idea of magnet generators, and I want to discuss the idea that someone is actually selling the long kept secret to free energy.

On their sales page, Magniwork states that they have the long kept secret to free energy. If you think about this logically, just for a moment, if they really have this secret – why are they selling $50 eBooks online?

I mean if I had the long-kept secret to answer the worlds energy needs, I would patent it, produce it, and sell it to homeowners and power companies. I’d own manufacturing companies to create the device, I’d probably own a few charities to help third-world countries take care of their energy needs. I’d be rich, I’d be well known, and in general people would know who I was and they’d be lining up at my door seeking my new invention. What I wouldn’t be doing is selling a $50 eBook online.

When you look at it from that point, it begins to become clearer that Magniwork is a scam.

Now let’s talk about the device itself. The original design of a magnet generator depended upon perpetual motion to generate electricity. Since perpetual motion has been a scientific fallacy since about 1592, obviously that tells you how well the device works.

Of course, Magniwork has the supposed solution to this problem. Instead of relying on perpetual motion we just add in a motor to spin the device, and then power that motor with a battery. Problem solved right?

Of course not!

That’s like trying to power your windmill motor with an electric drill. Sure it will produce power, but it will always use 2 – 3 times more power than you can produce. In other words this supposed answer to the worlds energy needs will slowly drain the battery…

Magniwork Review

I haven’t yet talked about the guide. As with any of my reviews I felt it prudent to review the book itself. Magiwork is actually well written. The guide covers some topics related to alternative energy, it covers solar and wind power, and all of the material is clearly written. The odd thing is that only about 20 pages of the 115 page book are devoted to their answer to the worlds power needs.

At any rate, the guide is well written. It does contain some useful information on Solar Panels and Wind Turbine, but if you were looking for information on those topics, and actually wanted an alternative energy solution, you’d be way better off looking at guides more specific to those topics (Green Power Easy and Earth 4 Energy both include video instruction along with their guides and they cost the same price).

If for some reason after reading this you still want to get Magniworks – Click Here to Visit Their Site

If you’re looking for a real alternative energy solution though, read about the top guides to DIY Solar Power here (also include guides to wind power).

Amazon Kindle Review – My Kindle Review for 2010

Posted by Trevas On January - 19 - 2010

I’m sure we already have a kindle review onsite. In fact, I know we do, it was posted by Don Shey last year. Well, it’s 2010 and it’s time for a new Kindle review. This time it will be by yours truly, and I will be reviewing the kindle based on my experiences after receiving this excellent eBook reader as an early Christmas gift.

With the Kindle’s wireless network now available in Canada, I’ve found that the Kindle is now my main reading device, and I felt the need to tell the world why. For those who don’t know what the kindle is, it’s Amazons vision of what an eBook reader should be, and after using one for about a month I think I agree with them.

My Review of the Amazon Kindle

Okay, so here it goes. You get this new shiny box in the mail, it’s from Amazon, and what do you know it’s a new kindle. At first glance this eBook reader may not seem like anything special, but I assure you once you start using it, you’ll soon find that it is.

There are a few features that I really like about the kindle, so here’s the list:

  1. Simple to use and with the wireless access buying books is a cinch.
  2. Read-out-loud feature allows me to stay with the action even when I’m doing something else.
  3. I can read all night (for 4 – 5 days in a row) without killing the battery. To accomplish this I do turn the wireless off (wireless access is a battery killer).
  4. The big page turning buttons make it simple to read with.
  5. It actually learns what you enjoy reading, makes book recommendations based upon that, and so far the recommendations have been good ones.
  6. Amazon’s pre-order feature allows me to order books by my favourite authors when I find out they are being released, and they automatically download to my kindle on the release date.

I could actually keep going with this list. But the things I like most about the Kindle are it’s book recommendation features (this is probably done by Amazons’ website) and it’s convenience. I can decide I want to read a book, buy it right on the Kindle, and then 2 minutes later be sitting in my lazy boy enjoying the book.
A couple of recommendations I do have for those who decide to invest in a kindle: Get a clip on light to make it easy to read in the dark, and be sure to get a case for it. The protective case is an excellent tool when you accidentally drop it (and yes I did this). Other than that I would recommend the Kindle to anyone who enjoys reading.
Another thing you’ll find great about the Kindle is the huge number of books available for it. I’ve owned the device for just over a month, and my book list is already up to about 20. I’ve read books like Under the Dome by Stephen King, Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyers, and By Reason of Insanity by Randy Singer.

My recommendation is that anyone looking for a reading device should put the kindle at the top of their list.

Review: ‘The Gates of Hell’ by Caroline Addenbrooke

Posted by AJ Best On December - 13 - 2009

The Gates of Hell” by Caroline Addenbrooke

Africa. Just the word instills a feeling of adventure and danger. To Rui Perreira, Africa means the fullfillment for a dream of gold and glory and the chance for a life with the beautiful Catalina, his childhood sweetheart. For Dela Eden, it means home and a way of life. A chance meeting between these two very different people sets in motion a chain of events that are both wonderful and horrifying at the same time. These events change everything for Dela Eden and Rui, making them both realize that sometimes one must give up the things believed most precious to gain something more.

At first glance, this book looks to be a historial adventure full of strange and exotic places with danger lurking in every page. However, once the reader begins their journey, they will start to see incredible details into a lost world. This story has elements of intrigue into old world politics and social standards with a dash of romance. I very much enjoyed this story and feel that I will continue to find some new detail with additional readings.

Talk Dirty to Topaz

Artist: Tuesday Dube
ISBN: 978-1-60168-230-7
Genre: Contemporary
Publisher: Aspen Mountain Press
Publication Date: 07/31/09
Sexual Content: Erotic

Twice bitten by people she trusted, Teagan Topaz has shelfed both the friendship and love life to focus on her interior design business. Although her best friend tried to warn her that the man she was about to marry was no good, the way it was proven left something to be desired. Then one day, she starts receiving mysterious phone calls from a deep-voiced stranger who fills her head with visions of secret desires and naughty sex.

Frank Black sees a picture of Teagan and is taken with her beauty. He decides that he’ll meet her no matter the cost and schedules an appointment for a room design. When Teagan meets Frank on a stormy winter afternoon, there’s an immediate attraction. As Teagan slowly begans to lose her resolve to the possibilities of a hot encounter with Frank, sizzling sex keeps them both hot as the snow flies outside.

This was a fun and sexy story. The fantasy of meeting someone that just pushes all the right buttons is something all women think about at one point in their life. While reading this story, it was fun to put myself in Teagan’s place and wonder what it would be like to lose one’s inhibitions to a total stranger and to genuinely enjoy oneself with no thought of what might happen afterwards. Definitely worth the thought!

When it comes to alternative energy solutions, many people may not realize that the simplest way to take advantage of them is to do-it-yourself. Guides like Green Power Easy, which I am about to review, make it simple to convert to solar or wind power at a cost that anyone could afford.

To purchase a complete alternative energy solution for your home may cost $15,000 to $20,000. By choosing to do it yourself you can convert your entire home for pennies in comparison.

Being somewhat involved in the non-fiction eBook industry, I’ve had the chance to read alternative energy guides like Earth 4 Energy or Power 4 Home. After reading those eBooks though, and then getting the chance to review Peter and Jen Lowe’s Green Power Easy, I must say that this new guide is better by far than the others.

Green Power Easy walks you through the steps it takes to convert your home to solar or wind power. It includes instructions on how to build solar panels, how to build wind turbines, and most importantly it’s the only guide I’ve ever come across that can teach you how to perform a whole-home conversion.

The eBook itself is 137 pages and walks you step-by-step through every aspect of alternative energy the DIY Way. With this guide you’ll get well-written instruction to alternative energy, and you’ll also get professionally designed illustrations that show you what you need to accomplish with each step.

The eBook package also comes with some bonus items. It includes:

  1. Green Power Easy – The EASY DIY Guide to Solar and Wind Power
  2. Green Power Easy Implementation Guide – Walks you through the steps you need to take to convert your entire home.
  3. Green Power Easy Parts Guide – Where to source the part to perform your alternative energy conversion for as little cost as possible.
  4. Green Power Easy Rebates Guide – Learn how to get government rebates to reduce the cost of your green energy solution by as much as 75%.
  5. Supplementary Videos – Easy to follow video instruction to build upon what the eBooks cover.
  6. Optional Green Power Easy TV Series – A monthly video series that includes further instruction, and completely new DIY ideas from the industry.
With the bonuses that come with the guide, and the exclusive Green Power Easy TV Series, this particular alternative energy guide definitely takes first place in this market.
At the time that I’m writing this, the Green Power Easy series of guides isn’t yet available. I actually became involved in the project when Peter and Jen asked me to help them build their site. After reading the eBooks though, I am recommending them to everyone who’s interested in green power.
They will be publicly available on October 26th, 2009, at which point you’ll be able to download your copy. At this moment Peter and Jen Lowe are giving away a Free Alternative Energy Report that tells more about the product, and that shows how simple it is to go green and save (with real case studies.
If you’re interested in what Green Energy I do suggest you take advantage of this free report, and include yourself in the early-bird special for what is expected to be the biggest alternative energy guide on the market.

Since I have become involved in this project, if you want a second opinion before you decide to choose this guide. Industry insider, John O’Ryan is also rating it as the top guide on the market. You can read his reviews of the top three guides to alternative energy with this link.

You can also watch video reviews of the top four guides on this site. The videos include what each guide teaches, and the thoughts on each guide from a professional in the solar power industry.

Blurb:

Something is causing people to freeze to death in Florida during
ninety-degree weather. Ancient Indian lore holds the answer to these
mysterious medical aberrations. A newly constructed Florida male prison sits
on ancient hallowed grounds called Forbidden Hill. Soon after the prison
opens, two male inmates freeze to death without exposure to frigid
temperatures. John Randall, a widowed prison doctor, meets Lena Windmaker, a
single, off-duty sheriff detective at a local library. Their initial
plutonic relationship soon kindles into a more amorous one. They hide a
personal secret that could bring them together or destroy them. They uncover
articles in local, post-Civil war newspapers describing residence succumbing
to Frozen Death. John and Lena race to discover a cause before it chooses
other victims

Review:

Frozen Death takes place in and around the Timucua State Correctional Institute. The first few chapters grab you and keep you guessing as to the reason why prisoners are dying suddenly. As the story goes on, it follows Dr. John Randall from being the prison physician, to being an investigator to an archeologist of sorts. He wears many different hats in this book and may cause the reader to wonder as to the reasoning. Throw in a beautiful Native American law enforcement officer, and the plot thickens. Overall, the story was intriguing but not riveting. The central theme held such promise but I felt a little let down that there weren’t more twists and turns throughout. The ending was unexpected, but I felt like the author rushed to include so much information in the last chapter that it made the reveal lose some of its punch.

Review: $7.95 Marketing Plan by Jim Kukral

Short. Sweet. Simple. Three tiny words in this complicated world that humans love to hear or read. These three tiny words are also what I use to describe www.795marketingplan.com’s ebook on how to create a memorable domain name for less than $10.

The ebook is quite easy to read and follow and being only 40 pages long helped. The pizza example on how to create a marketing plan was fun and the every day common language used to write this plan was great. It wouldn’t matter if you were young or old, an experienced entrepreneur or just a beginner, this ebook was very easy to read and follow. The use of internet links to show examples of already established domains and easy to follow exercises were a plus! The links worked even when the book was downloaded to the PC.

I would honestly recommend this ebook to anyone even considering starting their own business or just trying to get the word out about an existing one.

Ellie Conway works during the day as an FBI agent who works on serial crime cases. At night as a hobby she runs an internet poetry chat room. Someone breaks into her home and tries to kill her and she soon realizes that it has something to do with the chat room. Things take a turn for the worse when the killer is found dead in the trunk of her car.

Ellie runs to her friend Mac who she met through the chat room. The killer almost gets her at Mac’s house so they go on the run to evade the killer while at the same time figure out who it is and catch him. The FBI is called in and as the killer starts picking off the chat room’s members one by one they realize they need to find the killer and stop him fast. Even though there are numerous crime scenes they do not have enough evidence to catch the killer much less figure out why Ellie is being targeted. The killer is clever and manages to mess with them while managing to escape right under their noses several times.

Once there are victims that were not part of the chat room the FBI, Ellie, and Mac realize something more sinister is going on. Eventually a chance remark from twelve years ago give them a clue to help them start to piece together who it is and how to stop him.

This was a great book! I really enjoyed this one and couldn’t wait to read what was happening next. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading it and I didn’t want to put it down. Which unfortunately at points I had to since I was traveling and they make you turn off all electronic devices during take off and landing (I sincerely doubt leaving my Kindle on was going to make the plane crash but I was a good girl and followed the pilot’s instructions and turned it off. Darn it!) This killed me since I was dying to keep reading so I could find out who the killer was. Luckily for me taking off and landing doesn’t take that long and I was able to get back to the book and finish it. And it was worth the wait. I highly recommend this book and am going to read anything else this author has written immediately. Buy this book! You WON’T be disappointed.
