Getting Her Back – Michael Webb – eBook Review

Posted by Trevas On April - 12 - 2009

Here’s another great eBook from best selling author Michael Webb. If you follow our site you will likely remember our review of his other eBook 1000 Question for Couples (a book that came highly recommended by us). Today I am reviewing another relationship book. It’s titled Getting Her Back, and as the title suggests it is a book for those who have a relationship in trouble. Specifically Getting Her Back is a book for the men in those relationships; and like the last book we reviewed by this author this one is also highly recommended.

Michael Webb is a relationship expert who has appeared on talk shows such as Oprah and Men are From Mars, and as an author he is beginning to build a huge name for himself in the world of relationship ebooks. Our feeling is that he’ll continue to build his name with his latest book, Getting Her Back.

The book itself comes as part of a download package that includes three eBooks:

  • Getting Her Back - The main eBook that teaches you how to win your lover/wife/girlfriend back.
  • Keep Your Marriage - A more general eBook in which Michael teaches some ideas on why a marriage goes astray and how to save it.
  • 101 Romantic Ideas – An eBook that gives some unique ideas on romance. There are 101 different ideas, and most of them have a very unique spin to the regular romantic-ideas book.

The whole package costs $47, and like most of Michael Webb’s eBooks it comes with an 8 week money-back guarantee. Also like most of his books, this one isn’t available in bookstores and can only be purchased as the download package.

Getting Her Back – Synopsis

As you would expect from a book that teaches you how to fix a relationship, Getting Her Back walks through the steps and ideas needed to correct things where they’ve gone wrong. Where this book differs slightly though is in the way the material is presented.

If you’ve read many of these types of books, there is one area where most of them fail, and that is looking at both sides of the equation. Most fix-the-relationship books focus on things you can do to fix it now, and they forget to talk about the issues that need to be taken care of to keep the relationship together afterwards. In Getting Her Back, Michael Webb looks at both.

The book teaches you how to win her back, but it also covers many real issues that caused the relationship problems in the first place. It looks at your part in ruining the relationship, and talks about what needs to be done to correct it. All in all this is likely the best book that I’ve read on this particular topic, and from the few of Michael’s books that I have read I am beginning to see this as the norm for his work.

Getting Her Back – Excerpt

You’re not gonna like this one. But that doesn’t make it any less true. There’s a cynical saying among the brokenhearted of both genders: men are stupid, women are evil. Both sides of that proposition can be easily ascribed to when you’re in the middle of a relationship meltdown. And despite the socially unacceptable obviousness of why this can’t or shouldn’t be taken too seriously, or at least too literally, there is an interpretation based in truth: as a rule, men don’t inherently understand – or, Lord knows, observe – the physics of a successful relationship, while women sometimes resort to what must be acknowledged as manipulative ploys to keep things afloat, and – here’s the cynical part – get what they want. If that’s “evil,” so be it, because of the 50 percent of marriages that actually endure, and of the half of those that actually work, the vast majority of the credit goes to the women who are able to show their men how it works.

Ask yourself this question: of all the relationships in the field of vision of your life that have hit the rocks in one way or another, how many of those issues can, at the end of the day, be blamed on the woman? Which partner, at the core of everything, was really the weak link, the causal diminishing factor, in that relationship?

There you go. It’s about 10 to 1 men as the schmucks. Because it’s the behavior and lack of character of men that kill off the hope in their women.

Blind Consent by Michael W. Davis – Fiction eBook Review

Posted by Trevas On April - 7 - 2009

Today we have a brand new release, from Champagne Books, that Romance and Suspense readers alike will not want to miss. The book is by Michael W. Davis, and it’s called Blind Consent.

Michael Davis just won the author-of the-year award from Champagne, and when you read Blind Consent you begin to get an understanding of why. This is the third book I have read by this particular author, and I am beginning to become a serious fan of Michael Davis’s work.

Blind consent is part romance, part mystery/suspense, and it’s a thoroughly engrossing read from front to back.

The book tells the story of the main character, Ryan, who after losing his wife moves back to the hometown of his youth. His intention is to find himself again, but what he ends up with is a woman who knows more than she should, an impoverished town that holds a mystery he needs to understand, and a past long-forgotten that begins to haunt him.

Together with Annie, Ryan works to uncover the mystery behind the town’s hidden truth’s and work to find himself as well. I won’t give away any more of the story, but I will say this is one eBook you should pick up.

Blind Consent contains elements of both a suspense novel and a romance novel, and I think it will appeal to both groups of readers. The book is very well-written, and it will draw you in from the first page on. It includes just the right amount of emotion, suspense, and intrigue to bring you right into the story and keep you there.

Quick Link – Currently Blind Consent is Only Available from Champagne’s Store. For our paper back readers, I will add an Amazon link when it becomes available.

Heroes Die Young by T.M. Hunter – Fiction eBook Review

Posted by Review-Clarice On April - 4 - 2009

Here’s another sci-fi novel that readers of the genre won’t want to miss. The book is Heroes Die Young by T.M. Hunter and it’s an excellent read from front to back. The book is published by Champagne books, and at their author awards last week, it won bestselling eBook of the year. From that, apparently there are others who agree with my assessment of this book.

Heroes Die Young by T.M Hunter

Heroes Die Young by T.M Hunter

Heroes Die Young tells the story of Aston West, an ex-military pilot turned transport pilot. Aston is a seemingly selfish character, who worries only about keeping his own skin and earning some money while he does it. Upon finding a Rullusian freighter floating in space that includes some valuable cargo, Aston is suddenly thrown into world where circumstance and duty force him to change his selfish outlook.

I’m not going to give away any more of the story line, but I will say the book was a great read. I read this book in one night – I couldn’t put it down – and I was drawn in from the first page on. The book is action-packed and will take you on a journey through space as the like-able Aston West makes his way to becoming a hero.

With a writing style that will take you right into the action, you won’t want to miss this particular novel. I am highly recommending it to anyone who enjoys a good Sci-Fi book.

Excerpt:

Two short beeps in my ears notified me of new contacts on the scanner. I looked at the center of the instrument panel and cycled the target onto the display. A graphical depiction of our foe came up on the Target Acquisition Computer to the left of the scanner. This heavy cruiser was twice the size of those I’d seen destroy Rione’s ship. These were the kind used for heavy bombardment and I didn’t figure they were coming to the station to talk. We were still a few moments out of weapons range.

My old instincts took over. “Get in behind the cruiser. We’ll be safe from their cannons back there.”

“Acknowledged.”

I grabbed the control stick tight and eased it far to the right. Thrusters banked my fighter in the same direction and vectored me into a turn. I watched the cruiser’s image circle around the scanner. It passed the center mark and I flipped the stick back to the left until I saw the tail end of the cruiser through the front of the canopy. Its engine pods were three white-hot globes from my viewpoint, a few kilpars away.

Today I am reviewing a book by Ashley Ryan. The book is titled Mis-Behavior to Great Behavior – 20 Days to a New Child, and it is likely one of the best parenting books I have ever read (and I read a lot for those of you who don’t know me well). The book is the main element in the complete down-loadable package sold on the Mis-Behavior to Great Behavior site.

The entire package includes many bonus eBooks: 7 Alternatives to Punishment eBook, How to Raise a Happy Cooperative Child Videos, The Formula Solving Behavior Problems videos, etc. As a package the book with the bonuses is well worth the money, but it’s the book itself that I want to talk about today.

Misbehavior to Great Behavior by Ashley Ryan

Misbehavior to Great Behavior by Ashley Ryan

Given that Ashley Ryan is a professional parenting coach, I did expect this book to be a good one right from the start. I must say that I wasn’t at all disappointed. The book is great.

In Mis-Behavior to Great Behavior you will learn ideas like:

  • How to reduce tantrums and make outings more fun
  • How to get your child to co-operate without punishment
  • How to reduce the amount of times you have to say no and still have your child follow the rules
  • How to stop behavioral problems like child aggression
  • Much more..

The book doesn’t stop with ideas related to children though. It also walks you through becoming a confident, loving parent, and teaches you how to be in control without the need to yell or punish your child all the time. It’s really the book that will teach you how to be a better parent, and how to bring love back into your home and keep the anger and aggression out of the equation (on both the child and parents part).

Ashley Ryan’s book is easy to read, includes some great bonus material, and is coming highly recommended from me. The book comes with an 8-week money-back guarantee, so in this case you don’t even need to take my word for it. Buy the book and see for yourself.

Blade Dancer by K.M. Tolan – Fiction eBook Review

Posted by Trevas On April - 2 - 2009

Today I’m reviewing a Science Fiction novel by K.M. Tolan. The book is published by Champagne books, and it is one Sci-Fi read that fans of the genre won’t want to miss.

Blade Dance is an action packed book that is a truly imaginative novel, and it doesn’t follow some of the nerve-grinding conventions of this type of book. One of my biggest pet peeves with science fiction is the fact that so many books follow the same story line as the last one you read. With Blade Dancer you move away from those boring conventions and you get a truly original story that will draw you in from page one on.

The book tells the story of Mikial a female Datha warrior (and no I’m not going to explain the terminology – you’ll have to read it for yourself) who seems to always be struggling between what’s right, and what duty tells her she should be doing. Throughout the book you are taken with Mikial on a journey through war, to distant lands regularly untraveled by her people, and ultimately to success. I’m not going to share any more of the story line, but I will say this is one Sci-Fi eBook that should be in your library.

K.M. Tolan has an excellent writing style that is descriptive enough to draw you right into this whole new world. I’m looking forward to the next book featuring Mikial, and I enjoyed this ones so much that I also plan to buy K.M’s other book Waiting Weapon. I’ve included links at the bottom of this post for all of our Sci-Fi fans. I do suggest you grab a copy.

Excerpt:

The odd coughing thud increased in tempo. She was sure it came from among the trees, but a noise like the quick rush of birds made her look up. A geyser of dirt flashed skyward near the creek just to her right, scattering stones and debris through the brush. Before Mikial could make sense of what had happened, another crash of sound and light erupted in front of the Line’s position.

Cort Havada gave a series of signals that sent her scrambling to her feet. Assault by flanks. Mikial bolted as more “birds” flew in, chewing ground around the Datha blocking force.

Feren was right behind her as she dashed along the creek along the hillside. Glancing back, she saw Cort lead a skirmish line across the field as enemy cannon shells continued to rend the bushes they had left behind. Then came the next ugly surprise. It sounded like the sharp blast of a Qurl cannon, except that one report followed another in impossibly fast succession. Something raked across the rushing Datha like a deadly wind, many of them crumpling in bloody sprays.

Mikial dove instinctively as projectiles far worse than the expected simple rifle balls smashed rocks and tore the soil around her. A stinging rain of debris made it seem like an entire cavalry brigade had chosen her for volley fire.

“In the trees!” Feren shouted, slapping at her helmet. “Just ahead…see the flashes?”

“Targeted!” She snapped open the bipod attached to the cannon barrel and raised the weapon into position. Whatever the thing was, it had gone back to hammering Cort’s group in the field, forcing Datha to crawl across the meadow.

Since we posted the original review of 1000 Questions for Couples by Michael Webb, our site has been getting a lot of traffic from people seeking out information on the book. With that, we wanted to take a closer look at the book itself and run an eBook feature. Since it’s obviously information people are looking for – we’re always glad to help.

As we said in the review, 1000 Questions for Couples, takes an in depth look at questions couples (both new couples and old) should ask to get to know one another better. The book comes highly recommended by us. Of course, given that Michael Webb is both a T.V. personality and a best selling author, we never expected any less.

Since people seem to be actively seeking out this particular book though, we thought we’d take a closer look.

1000 Questions for Couples – Topic List

The questions in the book are divided into 22 different categories. Each topic focuses on one area of relationships, personality, likes, dislikes, etc. The topics of the questions in Michael’s latest book include:

  1. Personality, Feelings & Emotion
  2. Favorites
  3. Pets
  4. Attractions
  5. Health, Food & Well Being
  6. Vacations
  7. Morals, Convictions and Beliefs
  8. Religion & Spiritual Matters
  9. Car & Driver
  10. Past & Future
  11. Holidays & Celebrations
  12. Home & Home Life
  13. Hobbies & Entertainment
  14. Love, Romance & Date Nights
  15. Friends & Family
  16. Communication
  17. Career and Education
  18. Money
  19. Relationships – Past & Present
  20. Children & Child Rearing
  21. Wedding & Honeymoon
  22. Sex

Each section includes questions that would be excellent for both new couples and those who have been together for a while. The questions don’t focus on just the simple stuff, they include many deep and meaningful questions that will help you to get to know your partner better. If you look closely at most couples they don’t know each other well, beyond the superficial topics and ideas, and 1000 Questions for Couples will help to overcome that problem.

1000 Questions for Couple – Excerpt

To give you a better idea of what the book includes, here is a short excerpt from the first section, and a few sample questions from that same section.

Personality, Feelings & Emotions
This is by far the largest collection of questions, and rightly so. Your personality is the heart and core of who you are. You might be able to change your viewpoints on religion, sex and politics, but how you react to tragedies and triumphs will rarely be different from year to year. Answers to these questions will give you insight into your partner and will fill you with a deeper understanding of who they are.

  • What things about me remind you of anyone from your past, either past sweethearts or good friends?
  • What do you think are my talents? Do you think you have any of the same talents?
  • How many physical fights have you been in? Do you usually start them? Why do you fight?
  • Has anyone very dear to you died? How did you handle it?
  • Do you tend to analyze your decisions before you talk about them or do ideas and thoughts blurt out without much forethought?

If you want to learn more about my thoughts on this particular book, you can read the original review by clicking here. For those who’ve been looking for that next great book to read together, I do suggest you visit the 1000 Questions for Couples site and pick up your own copy. The book itself comes with an 8-week money-back guarantee so it’s a no-risk purchase.

My wife and I have been enjoying this book together, and we’ve been married for 10 years so it really is a great read (and a lot of fun) for couples both pre-marital couples and those who’ve been together for a while.

For newcomers to our site: Be sure to subscribe our RSS feed (also available by email at the top of this site). When I contacted Michael to get his permission to post this feature, he asked me to review a couple of his other books. For those who enjoy 1000 Questions for Couples, you won’t want to miss the reviews that we have coming up later this month!
