Here is an excellent novella that science-fiction fans won’t want to miss. The book is called Parole, by Barton Paul Levenson, and it is available in multiple eBook formats from the Lyrical Press Store. This particular novella is about 61 pages (in pdf format) and is an excellent read from front to back. At just $2.50 it’s definitely a book our science fiction readers should pick up.
Parole tells the story of a Mel Broward, a hacker who has been sentenced to one year to life in prison for his criminal activities. As luck would have it Broward gets an early parole when one of the Kolinti-pheet-riggador, an alien species, requires a hacker to help with a security issue.
I’m not going to give away the storyline, but I will say that the book includes elements that make it unique in its genre and it will draw you in right from the start. As you make your way into the book you’ll find yourself surprised at every plot turn, and Levenson’s descriptive style will take you right into the action.
If you’ve been looking for your next Sci-Fi novel, I am highly recommending Parole by Barton Paul Levenson. This is the third book I’ve reviewed from Lyrical Press and they are another e-Publisher that I am beginning to associate with excellent eBooks.
Today I’m reviewing a language learning package that anyone interested in learning Spanish should get. I actually purchased the package on the recommendation of one of my Spanish blogging friends, but I am enjoying the course enough that I thought I would review it on our site.
As the name suggests, Rocket Spanish is a digital package that teaches, well Spanish. It is divided into a series of audio courses and also comes with some eBooks (grammar guides and exercise booklets) to back up what is being taught. Rocket Spanish also includes an excellent piece of software that adds a visual element and a little fun to your learning experience.
This particular audio course differs from others in that, rather than just repeating words that you are taught, it puts you right into conversations with native Spanish speakers. Each audio file in the series walks you through a conversation, explains to you what is being said, and then allows you to take one (or both) sides of the conversations as the module progresses. The entire course is very well put together and worth the money you spend to get it.
When you’re done with the audio portion of the module you can move onto real exercises that also teach you grammar and test you on what you’ve learned. Add to that the visual elements added by the software and the whole course comes together as an excellent learning package.
I personally purchased this course because along with my family we will be spending a year in Mexico soon. I have owned the course for a month and I am progressing with my Spanish learning quite quickly. I am highly recommending Rocket Spanish to anyone who needs a good Spanish learning packages. The course is available from the link below, and can be purchased as a basic course, or with an additional advanced course that takes you even farther with your learning.
Here is an eBook that all of our author followers should read. The book is called The Power of Promotional Groups and it is written by Karen Wiesner. As the title suggests the book covers how to promote an eBook using various types of group efforts.
The Power of Promotional Groups is well written, easy to follow and highly recommended to anyone who is new to the world of eBook publishing.
With this book a new author can expect to learn:
All about four different types of promotional groups that can take your eBook sales to the next level.
Elements you should have in your own toolbox to promote your work youself.
How to target your promotions inexpensively over the long term.
Places where you can get inexpensive paid advertising to help with your promotions.
How group anthologies can help to bring your own work to a wider audience.
The eBook also lists hundreds of organizations and other tools to help you along the way.
My personal feeling after reading this one is that anyone who is new to the world of eBook promotion should read this book. It will help you take your fiction (or likely non-fiction) work to a new level of readership.
For those of you who missed my original post, in which I shared my thoughts on the excellent course Niche Blueprint, today is the day. Niche Blueprint will be publicly available in about 10 minutes, and this one will only be on the market for 5 days total.
If you have been looking for the best way to make money online. I do suggest you check this one out.
As I said in my review this is one course that I think everyone interesting in marketing should have. It covers many topics related to Internet marketing in general, but most importantly it teaches you how to make $10,000 per month niche websites (and the ideas really do work).
Free Site Signup Review – Update June 07th, 2009 – After working with FSS for close to a year now, I decided this post needed to be revamped a little. If you watch the new video posted below, it gives a much better idea of the potential of this system. In one year, with one site (and you get 28 money-making sites when you signup with these guys) we have brought in close to $50,000 in income. Not bad with one of the 28 sites you get for an $8.95 signup fee!
If you like easy money, then please read this whole post, and be sure to watch the video. This is a real opportunity from a real company that I am working with right now!
I just wanted to post to let everyone know that our site will be featured in the training videos for FreeSiteSignup.com. I wanted to let everyone know for two reasons.
First – we’re being featured on a high-traffic site and that’s awesome!
Second - I have been working the the company who runs FreeSitesignup.com, to create some training videos on how to create ad campaigns, and also on how to build traffic for free (hence the reason our site is being featured). With the work I have done with them, I have seen first-hand the money making potential of signing up with this site, and today I am sharing that with you (I like to help others make money).
Okay, so the basic premise of freesitesignup.com is that you sign-up, you pay your sign-up fee (there is a free package, but you want the upgrade and I’ll get to why in a moment), and then you post a professionally researched and written review page to your site. You then use various methods to drive traffic to that page, and you earn a commission every time someone buys one of the products that the page recommends. It’s actually much easier than it sounds. They give you step-by-step videos that teach you how to accomplish everything.
With the work I have done with them – in 2 weeks time, with one page and one AdWords campaign, they have made some serious money. Instead of saying anything else, just watch this video; this one is about 7 videos into the AdWords training video series, and it shows how much the campaign has made over two weeks and talks about the potential of this one campaign.
Update June 07th, 2009. After working with Free Site Signup for close to a year now, I have created another video that shows the profit potential of their system. You can watch it by pressing play below:
Click Here to View a Larger Version of the Video
I am highly recommending that anyone interested in making some extra cash get in on this one. The training videos walk you through all of the steps you need to take to make money within just a few days, and yes this is for real!
This one is a fairly new opportunity, and I do suggest getting in now instead of later. Get Started with Free Site Signup by Clicking Here
As a Side Note: Aside from the work I have been doing for them, I am not in any way affiliated with free site sign-up. They have not paid me to advertise their site (it’s just an excellent opportunity so I wanted to share). All names, trademarks, etc are copyright of freesitesignup.com and their parent company Top Tier Solutions.
Here’s a short story that Sci-Fi readers will enjoy. The eBook is The Treasure by Michael W. Davis, and it is an excellent read from start to finish. Personally, I enjoy short eBooks like this one. They give me a way to grab a book to read for a $1.00, and they can be finished in a shorter amount of time (time is something I seem to have less of lately).
The Treasure tells the story of Major Jake Hamilton, a space traveler who finds himself marooned on a distant planet, alone after his crew is killed, and faced with a daily struggle against the inhabitants of that planet. I’m not going to give away the story line, but I will say this short story is a great read. It is one of those books that really makes you think, and it will leave you with a sense of wonder when you finish.
As I expected, since it’s written by Michael W. Davis, the writing style is great and it will draw you right in. If you’ve been looking for a good short eBook, I highly recommend this Sci-Fi short from Champagne books.
An Excerpt from the Treasure
Jake heard the scream from the direction of the shoreline. He ripped his way through the dense undergrowth, but when he got there, she was gone. He followed the drag trail into the teal colored trees. Just inside the dense underbrush, he came to an opening, and there she was, the life being sucked from her small body. She reached for him, pleaded for relief. He struggled to help her, but he couldn’t move. His feet were entangled in the roots of the forest; the vines rose up and anchored him to the ground. She called his name again and again, begged him to save her, but he could only watch as she was slowly devoured. He looked toward the sky; cried out for a reprieve, but there was no one to help.
Here’s a book that those who read horror won’t want to miss. The book is called Thirst of Youth, it’s written by Preston J. Sexton, and it will be available from Rogue Pheonix Press on April 01st, 2009. I am recommending this one to anyone who enjoys this genre.
Thirst of Youth is a vampire novel, but with a very unique twist – the vampires aren’t actually vampires at all (if you want to understand you’ll have to read the book). The book tells the story of Justin Browser, a young man trying to escape the mundane life of central Oregon. Upon moving out to L.A. he is presented with a whole new, quite horrific, world where he is forced to fight against a new evil he discovers.
The whole book is an excellent keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat novel, and I am recommending it to anyone who enjoys a good horror book. It’s is an action packed thrill-ride that will keep you reading and wanting more.
Thirst of Youth will be available on April 01, from the Rogue Pheonix Press site. You can bookmark their site, or just subscribe to our RSS feed – I will be announcing the official release of this particular eBook.
An Excerpt from Thirst of Youth:
Sarah and the kids flinched at the first sound of gunfire. They moved quickly toward the end of the building. Sarah scanned the open space for a pay phone.
The Uzi’s rattled off round after round with little pause between them. Metal shards sliced the night air anticipating the collision with the angry vamptilians flesh. All three women caught the searing pressure at once. Camille took one shot off her left shin, another spread a hole in the flesh of her right hand. She was livid.
Now that his strengths were like theirs, it would be more difficult to attack through the rapid succession of bullets. Camille jumped from the van, leaving her cousins to be shredded. She disappeared into the dark sky, wounded, and plotting her revenge. Ming and Nicki were heavy with molten shrapnel. The 9mm cartridges rained from the ejection port. Ming’s arms and face looked like ground beef. Thick blood streamed down her cheek. Her right eye had exploded in its socket. The dying beast gave one last gargling hiss–fell to her knees and then her belly.
Nicki cried out like a wounded animal. Fingers were missing from both her hands. Chucks of muscle tore from her arms, thighs, and abdomen.
Justin kicked his right leg over the motorcycle as he continued unleashing bullets from the guns. Once free from the bike, he walked closer to the helpless vamptilians. He turned both pistols on Nicki. The violent barrage of ammunition tore into her skull. Fragments of brain matter and bone splashed onto the cement and the van behind her. She remained on her feet, although the glaze in her dark eyes was completely devoid of life. By the time Justin had calmed his tensed index fingers, the entire upper crust of Nicki’s skull was gone. She fell to the earth.
After reviewing the Earth 4 Energy eBook a few weeks ago, this site started to get some traffic with searches for Energy 4 Green. From that, I have decided to review this eBook package as well (since it’s obviously information that people are looking for).
Much like Earth 4 Energy, this eBook/video series teaches you how to convert your home to off-grid power. Energy 4 Green contains more eBook content than the other package does, but I don’t think that it takes away from the value of this particular learning package. Each eBook is well laid out and walks you through the steps needed to create solar panels, windmills, and best of all it gives you tips to source the parts for decent prices. With the main book you get detailed plans, that lays out how to put everything together, and I felt it taught the material quite well.
You also get many bonus books with your purchase that help to add clarity to how to install the system, teach you how to create an energy storage system for very little cost, and in general that add value to the whole package.
Since I’ve talked about two products in this particular review, I know I will get questions about which one to recommend. I think it might actually be difficult to do so, and that the decision should be left up to you. Either package will cost you about $50.
The Earth 4 Green package contains more bonus material that is worth the price than Earth 4 Energy did, but then the video content of the second package will make it easier for some to follow. I’m not going to actually recommend one here. I will say that Energy 4 Green is very well written, and that the additional books that came with this particular package do add a lot of value to it.
Also, since they both come with an 8 week money-back guarantee, I wouldn’t be worried about buying either product.
You may know Michael Webb from his appearances on shows like Oprah, the 700 Club or one of the many other television shows that he has been featured on. In case you don’t know who he is, Michael Webb is a relationship expert and today I am reviewing his eBook: 1000 Questions for Couples.
As the title suggests the book includes questions for couples. It’s based off the premise that if couples could learn to communicated better, there would be 83% less divorces in our society.
The book itself is very well thought out, and Michaels relationship expertise comes shining through as you make your way into it. Personally I don’t feel the title does this one justice. Personally I would have called it 1000 Questions for Couples to get to Know and Understand Each Other (that likely wouldn’t fit on the cover though).
If you look at your own relationship and those of the people you know, one thing that quickly becomes clear is how few of us really know our partners well. Michaels book works to change that.
1000 Questions for Couples get’s into serious questions that spouses and partners should be asking each other. The topics of the questions range getting to know each other’s personallity better to questions about the past, future, morals, convictions, and much more. With each question the book presents it also teaches you why you should ask each other the questions. Personally this one will go into my own relationship toolbox, and I will be using this one in my own life.
If you’ve been looking for the next great book for both of you, I do suggest this one. I wouldn’t just suggest it to those who are struggling in their relationships either, I would say this is one that every couple should read!
This one is only available as an eBook and it won’t be coming to a store near you. It also comes with a money back guarantee. You can use the link below to get your copy now:
Update April 07, 2009: After posting this review, we began to get a lot of search engine traffic for this particular eBook. Given that we have posted an 1000 Questions for Couples eBook Feature that includes a topic list and a short excerpt from the book.
Here’s a book that anyone who enjoys a great Romance novel will not want to miss.
It’s actually a Paranormal/Romance published by Champagne Books. The book is called Waiting for the Rain, by M.Jean Pike, and I am highly recommending this one to anyone who enjoys either genre.
On a normal day I likely wouldn’t say that I am a Romance reader, but I did enjoy this book.
Waiting for the Rain tells the story of Willow Mackenzie. A woman who is suffering from, and possibly dying from, cancer and who is generally lost on what path her life should take. That is until she meets Darby Sullivan, and her life begins to take a turn for the better.
I’m not going to give away the storyline. All I will say beyond what I already have is that this one is a Romance novel with a paranormal twist. The book contains just the right mix of suspense, paranormal, and romance to make it one that will appeal to many readers and not just romance fans.
This was another one of those books that I had trouble putting down. I finished from front to back in 2 days (I had to sleep somewhere in between), and with every page I found myself wanting to read more.
All-in-all Waiting for the rain is a great read, and this is one book that I think anyone could enjoy. It’s especially one that romance readers won’t want to miss!
An Excerpt from Waiting for the Rain
This is it, an inner voice whispered. This is the home I have searched for. The home I have waited a lifetime to find. The thought came with an intensity that surprised her. She certainly hadn’t come up Baker’s Gully Road looking for a cottage to rent.
A crack of thunder tore through the quiet, pulling her from her thoughts. The dog barked. Gazing across the yard, she saw him waiting just beyond the house, at the end of a rutted dirt path, his tail beating furiously. Feeling the first drops of rain splash her face, she opened her umbrella and hurried toward him.
The path led through a grove of pine trees, then to a covered bridge that spanned a wide, chortling river. Just beyond the bridge, Willy could see another cabin, this one made of logs. Most of the dwelling was concealed by trees, but the thin curl of smoke escaping the chimney told Willy the cabin was inhabited. The dog stopped in mid-stride and pricked up its ears, then took off on a dead run toward the cabin. Willy followed at a slower pace, wondering where the old dog got his energy.
