Fiction eBook Review Mis-Staked by J. Morgan

Posted by Trevas On February - 6 - 2009

Today I am reviewing a book that is far from my regular reading taste, but I am recommending to everyone!

The book is Mis-Staked by J. Morgan and it is a comedy novel. Since it’s published by Champagne Books, I did expect it to be a good read when I started. What it turned out to be was one of the most refreshing books that I have read in a long while.

This book is funny. No, that isn’t enough…..

Rather than get all wordy, I’ll tell you a little bit about me so that you have a better picture of how much I enjoyed this one.

I’ve never been one those people who holds it in when they laugh. I’m not one to wait until someone else finds humor in things. I just let it out. I love to laugh, and if I find something funny, I’ll often laugh loudly.

Okay so picture this: I’ve downloaded the book, converted it to mobi format and I’m reading it on my BlackBerry.

This book is my-wife-is-looking-at-me-like-I’m-half-whacked-because-I-just-spewed-pepsi-all-over-my-expensive-BlackBerry funny.

I’m not done yet: I also like to read in bed, so we could try it another way. Mis-Staked is she-just-kicked-me-out-of-bed-because-I’m-busting-a-gut-laughing-at-two-a.m. funny.

Getting back to the book, as the cover suggests, Mis-Staked is a satirical vampire novel. It tells the story of Breathred E. Petrifunck, a 35 year old virgin turned vampire slayer, as he is faced with battling the mother of all vampires. I won’t give away the storyline. What I will say is that anyone with a healthy sense of humor needs to read this book.

J. Morgan’s novel is wonderfully refreshing, hilarious, and is a thoroughly enjoyable read. If you’re anything like me, within the first few paragraphs of starting Chapter one, you’ll be chuckling, and as you make your way into the book you’ll find yourself having troubles standing up because you’re laughing too hard. I am highly recommending this one to everyone.

If you like to laugh, buy this book! I promise you won’t be disappointed.

I think I should add one more to my list of descriptive phrases…

We could also do: I’m-laughing-so-hard-I’m-crying-now-I-can’t-read-at-all kind of funny.

Yes I know I could have edited the post. Apparently I felt like being the first to comment on my own review :-P

Glad you enjoyed it Trevas! Told you it was different. I guess I should have put a disclaimer on it: Choking hazard. Do not read while eating or drinking.

The book was very unique, and an enjoyable read.

The choking hazard is in the first chapter. You had said the book was a comedy, but I wasn’t really expecting it to be that funny. So oops – pepsi on my BlackBerry in the first Chapter. After that one, I got smarter and quit drinking and reading at the same time :-)

    Cheers,

I’m so glad you enjoyed the book. Sorry about the choking, but those things happen when you let a talking chimp write a book.

    Hello J.

Yes books written by talking chimps definetely do have a fun factor to them. One of the side effects is choking if you aren’t prepared…

I’ll remember not to bring the pepsi if I ever review another of your books. No worries though, my BlackBerry’s tough enough to handle it :-)

    Cheers,
    Trevas

Ik’m always ready for a good laugh myself. I’ll add it to my list of things to read.

  8. I can tell that this is not the first time at all that you mention this topic. Why have you decided to touch it again?
